Warning! Warning! Warning!

First, to put your mind at ease, I did not go to this movie. But my wife, daughter, and a visiting friend did, sort of....

Some "funny" things also happened as a result.
First of all, I wrote a blog about it and saved it to my backup storage device (a MAXTOR 750g).  The next day when I booted up, my computer would not "read" anything on the Maxtor!
Today I am writing it again, directly to the website and we bind the devil from any problems in Jesus' Name.

Now, back to our report.

When the three of them went out to see "Sherlock Holmes", they had no clue they were about to get a real spiritual lesson from the Lord!  After leaving, about 45 minutes or so later, Linda, Savanah, and Mary returned with odd looks on their faces.

They began to tell me that the movie was "very dark" and that it became intolerably satanic as it progressed. It was so disturbing that Savanah had become nauseous and faint as she watched the movie and as a satanic ritual was performed by the.... "actors'.
(The Lord only knows what they do in REAL life).

I thanked God that they walked out of the theater and came home. As they related the story, I prayed over them and the others in that theater. (They had seen some other Christians there). Later in the evening, as is custom, I went up to prayer, and as I prayed for my wife, daughter, and friend Mary, the Lord gave me a vision.

In the vision, I saw a large movie screen with the audience sitting in their seats watching. The BACK of the movie screen was open to the outside building, there was no back wall.
From the dark outside sky, I saw a flock of crows dropping down out of the sky and flying THROUGH the theater screen and INTO the audience. -literally into them
.

The vision ended.

Later, when I told Linda what I had "seen", she was shocked as a crow was one of the movie characters and was associated with one of the evil characters (Blackwood).

A little research found that the movie's black-rituals were right out of the dark sides actual practice. It MAY have been an actual ritual thinly disguised as "entertainment".
(BTW, isn't that the kind of stuff that got the Lords people in a lot of trouble in the OLD Testament?)

"The film was shot on location in Manchester and London with lots of local color and a new villain whose inspiration was the bisexual magician and self-proclaimed “beast 666,” Aleister Crowley. Aleister Crowley
He wrote Book of Law in April of 1904, and was a satanist. He also influenced the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, among many others in Hollywood and Rock Music)

"Using a Crowley-inspired villain and Victorian underground settings like Golden Dawn ****** and public wrestling pits adds a distinct whiff of rough trade to Sherlock Holmes. If purists argue that Ritchie is taking liberties, scholars have argued for years that the “real” Sherlock was a solitary, stylish bachelor with a coke habit and a bear for a best friend."

That brings us to a question, when does the "entertainment"  factor justify and sanctify this type of fare for Christians? Without resorting to making a law "thou shalt not go see movies", I would urge everyone to prayerfully consider the following:

1 Cor10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
2 Cor 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Notice "fellowship" with devils, and "communion" with darkness:
Fellowship: gr. koinonia: association, community, communion, joint participation, intercourse
the share which one has in anything,  participation
Communion: same as above!

Psalms 26:5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.
Psalms 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil

Psalms 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes
Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked , and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD
(justifieth: is that like to make excuses why it is OK to watch abobominable filth?)

1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1 Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

Didn't God send prophets to rebuke the Covenant people once before for their bringing abominable images into the Lords temple?   Read Ezekiel 4 and 5)
He sure did.
He promised it would happen again in the latter days for those who bring abominable images into the temple of their own body through the doorways called "eyes"?

Ez 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

It was sure a good lesson for our family.

My wife and I went to that movie and I wasn't prepared for it. The setting was a dingy dirty darkness. There was a scene where the actor drew a hexagram with candle wax and did some sort of ritual. Not up on these rituals and don't intend to be. The movie lead the audience to thinking that the character Blackwood was using occult power to bring about evil. If I had known what this movie was like I wouldn't have gone. Lord forgive us.

The purpose of showing the occultism ritual and dark supernatural scenes is to open the door to the millions of young and impressionable kids who have curiosity aroused to explore satanism and witchcraft.

The reason why many of these situations are shown in movies or television is to take the censorship away from these situations so that they seem normal to kids/adults.Adventually the world is going to show a lot more of this not just on the tv/movie screens but the world wants people to accept this as normal. Its hard to stop kids/adults from watching clips like this as most of you know its hard to know whats going to come up on the screen even after seeing the previews but we can definetly leave and sit down afterwords and discuss what is right and wrong.I think if you continue to never experience any of these situations how are you to teach others about it?I find sometimes the best time talk to others about God is in situations like this.

I agree with all of you! I have not been adequately prepared for the scenes in this movie, took both my kids and my wife to go and see it. Within the first 10 minutes there is a human sacrifice, and it gets worse from there. We walked out after about an hour, way too late if you ask me. I thank God that my children has seen the evil for what it is, and will ask the Lord's forgiveness. What upset me is that none of these satanic themes are apparant from the trailer, and it seems that the world doesnt see it either, as most reviews dont even mention satanism. I'm reminded of 2 Cor 4:4. I thank God that about a third of the audience had left by the time we did. I believe there's hope for South Africa yet. SHalom Charl Jordaan

We walk the narrow road. Movies are a cultural addiction with us Christians and I try to stay within the narrow bounds of historic facts. Watching The Pianist and Defiance got me to think about how many who did not live by the sword (millions of unarmed Jews in the holocaust) died by the sword and how those (Defiance) who lived by the sword survived. I recently watched Charlie Wilson's war and should have stopped it in the first minute and thrown it away. The devil is wearing down the saints to go along with what we would have never accepted 10 ,20 years ago. We need to separate from this culture of death. See David WIlkerson's blog Tuesday Staying Green And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

Here's what the Lord showed me regarding movies, and TV. 99% of all subject matter used for 99% of all movies or TV are from this list. All of which is mentioned in the bible. Envyings, idolatry, murders, fornication (which includes all sexual sins and lust), inordinate affections, disobedient to parents, lovers of evil, liars, haters of truth, revenge, rendering evil for evil, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, trailers, unthankful, unholy...the list goes on. Most if not all screenplays are taken from this list. Sure Bible stories include these but also includes the swift judgment and affliction sin brings often resulting in repentance and reconciliation to God. I've been there myself so I'm not better than anyone...

....(cont from my last comment:) I just want to know the truth and be truly free from sin as the Bible teaches. Paying to watch sin (movies etc) is something the Lord has shown me from scripture, not to do anymore. Even the kids TV shows teaches to hit back, take revenge (rendering evil for evil), to hate and most things mentioned above. 1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1Ti 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. This isn't meant to be a complete teaching but hopefully to the point! "Let's be careful out there" :)

A vision I had some years ago. I was standing behind a sofa with a husband and wife seated on the sofa and several children seated in front of the TV in front of the seated parents. The tv was on,I am unsure of the content but the Lord showed me many fiery darts flying out of the television which then pierced into the children and the parents. The fiery darts were numerous and none of those watching were even aware that they were being pierced with the fiery darts of the evil one. Doris

"I think if you continue to never experience any of these situations how are you to teach others about it?I find sometimes the best time talk to others about God is in situations like this." That is very dangerous thinking Unknown. We should speak as the Lord gives us utterance not of the evil we take in.

I read your views above and they are all understandable. I view them as different. As a Christian that left, got a real education in other religions and came back, I have a different view. These types of movies have existed since the advent of movies. A good number of the top movies were were of a subverse nature. Do I see anything wrong with them? No! What I see as wrong (as far as our childerns learning) is the unwillingness of parents to teach what is truly right or wrong. I was raised in a very strict family, but did not have anything censored to me. (CONTINUED BELOW)

My parents wanted me to experiance everything life could through at me. That is how I found out how great the Love and Light of our Lord is. Majority of my friends have stuck to the church and indoctorined beliefs and have not had the privilage of experiancing the things that are preached to be bad. I have sinned with the worst, experianced things that wouldn't make Continued from Belowit into movies today and it has shown me one thing. You never know and appreciate how bright a Light is until it is taken away. So I suggest you NOT hide the evil in the world but let it be known and teach you kids right and wrong. If you do this they will fall, they will fall hard, but they will know what is right and will be better because of it.

My name is Joe Wolking and I saw Sherlock Holmes in the theatres. I agree with much of what is posted here, but I would like to post a question to everyone who has posted. The occultic symbolisym in Holmes, is argued to be no different than what is shown in Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and even Chronicles of Narnia. Recently, I have been struggling with myself over this question, "What is the difference between these stories?" Ultimately, the world says they are all the same. Good versus evil. Anyone have some thoughts? Joe Wolking

Verses to consider: Romans 16:19 ... I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
